Few things are more miserable than a general, undefinable malaise permeating every cell of your life. If you can’t identify what’s wrong, how can you possibly move forward?
You can. And in this instance, it can be helpful to put the cart before the horse. Sometimes recognizing the root of the problem won’t be possible until you start moving forward.
When you’re stuck in a rut, the walls of the deep, deep rut are often all that’s in your field of vision. With each step forward, you empower yourself to peak over the rim a bit more with every step.
The problem is that the only thing more difficult than whatever blasé situation you currently find yourself in, is change. Ick. Change is hard work. Even more so when you’re uninspired by everything.
I encourage you to make the initial steps as painless as possible by starting with something you love. When we’re feeling unmotivated, even things we know we love may hold no appeal. BUT they hold more appeal than everything else.
I mean, really. Do what you love and feel better? Sounds a bit like a cop out from doing the hard work. I assure you it is not.
The point is that you are running yourself ragged and I implore you to stop and listen to what you are saying you need. Feeling stale and stagnate, means you have been overwhelmed or deflated or anxious or depressed for so long, you’re numbing out. It’s time to learn to feel again. Then you will be able to recognize the root of the problem. And you’ll feel more motivated and equipped to do something about it.
